Our Team
The Habitat Bank was founded in July 2022, when BNG was still in its infancy. Its directors, Jon Golby, Trevor Wells, Nigel Herrick and James Wilson, bring together a wealth of diverse experience in the environmental planning, land and agriculture, development and financial sectors to create a simple business model for delivering biodiversity net gain.
In response to the successful growth of the business over the past year, Andrew McFarlane Holt (Director) Simon Kirk (Operations Manager) and Abi Bradley (Finance Manager) have now joined the team.

Jon Golby
Director
Jon is a Chartered Landscape Architect with over 25 years experience in the environmental planning sector. Jon spent his early career working at David Wilson Homes where he gained extensive experience in strategic and environmental planning, project management and delivery.
In 2013 he set up Golby + Luck which is now one of the leading environmental planning and design practices in the Midlands.
Jon co-founded The Habitat Bank in 2022 and is involved in the establishment of bank sites and sale of BNG units.

Trevor Wells
Director
Trevor is a Chartered Surveyor and Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers and farmer with over 25 years experience in land management, rural enterprise, land valuation, and agency.
Trevor set up Wells McFarlane in February 2004 which is one of the leading firms of Chartered Surveyors in the East Midlands. In February 2009 he was elected as President of The Midland Counties Agricultural Valuers Association.
Trevor co-founded The Habitat Bank in 2022, and is actively involved in securing new bank sites.

James Wilson
Director
James is a developer and farmer that has grown up in the Leicestershire landscape. He brings a lifetime of practical experience to the habitat bank in land management and has a unique insight into the synergy between farming, development and the delivery of BNG.
James's practical understanding of farming and land management has helped us to develop our working practices and better understand the likely needs of our clients.

Andrew McFarlane Holt
Director
Andrew is a Chartered Surveyor and Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers and farmer with extensive expertise and encompasses office and industrial markets, commercial property management and investment, rural estate management, planning and development.
He set up Wells McFarlane in February 2004 which is one of the leading firms of Chartered Surveyors in the East Midlands.
Andrew joined the habitat bank at the end of 2023.

Nigel Herrick
Director
Nigel is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments, and an Independent Financial adviser who has run his own practice for almost 30 years.
Prior to creating The Premier Partnership in 1993, Nigel worked in The City as a Stockbroker and Member Of The Stock Exchange.
Nigel co-founded The Habitat Bank in 2022 and brings a wealth of financial and economic advice to the habitat bank and its clients.

Simon Kirk
Operations manager
Following his upbringing on a Leicestershire-based dairy farm, Simon began his professional career working as a rural surveyor for a land agency firm in Norfolk.
He then returned home to work for an established Midlands housebuilder as a land buyer in 2020.
Simon joined The Habitat Bank at the end of 2023, taking on the role of Operations Manager.

Abi Bradley
Finance manager
Abi is a fully qualified Chartered Accountant and joined the habitat bank at the beginning of 2024.
Abi is responsible for the company's accounts function including payments, invoicing and finalising year end accounts.
